Enrollment Process
If you wish to apply for enrollment for your child in the Brookline Schools Staff Children’s Center, please return an application and a $30 application fee at any point in the year. All applications received by the last Friday in February are considered at the same time and will receive priority. We will notify families by the end of March of their application's status.
The application form can be downloaded from this page and then emailed or mailed to us. At this time, we cannot accept payment through our website which means that application fees must be mailed.
We host an in-person Open House on the first Friday in January from 3:30 - 5:00. This year that will be January 5, 2024. This is an opportunity to speak with our teachers and see the classroom spaces and curriculum documentation.
Families may enroll for early AM care (7:15 - 8:00), midday care (8:00 - 3:30), and late PM care (3:30 - 5:00). There is a minimum requirement of five midday sessions per week. There is no minimum requirement for early AM or late PM care when the two classrooms may be combined.
The center follows the Public Schools of Brookline calendar. Tuition is paid in ten equal monthly payments and is based on the 36.4 weeks during the school year that the Center is open; that is, it does not include the holidays and vacation weeks for which the Brookline Public Schools and the Center are closed. You must pay for any days your child is absent.
We offer a five week summer program in late June and July for currently enrolled families only. It is a separate program typically offering five one-week sessions mainly staffed by BSSCC teachers and consisting of one classroom group of older toddlers and preschoolers. Enrollment priority is given to those families who are returning the following year.
Upon acceptance, a deposit of $2,000 is due for each child. This deposit is due two weeks after notification of acceptance. This payment is not refundable if your child is withdrawn from the Center after acceptance or during the school year. It is refunded when your child leaves the program at the end of a contracted year. It is not applied towards any monthly tuition during the school year.
On June 1 the first tuition payment is due. There are no tuition payments in July or August unless you are enrolled in the summer program. The second payment is due September 15th, with subsequent payments on the 15th of each month thereafter through May.
BSSCC admits children of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to children at the Center. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, sex, age, marital status, sexual preference, disability, religion, or political beliefs in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, or other Center administered programs.
Although we prioritize Brookline teachers when enrolling, we welcome families who either live or work in the area. The enrollment committee in conjunction with BSSCC teachers will consider class composition issues such as age, gender and diversity when making enrollment decisions.
Please contact Jane Pinto at 617-651-2279 or [email protected] if you have any questions or wish to visit the center.
